Notes

Using four different dye patterns of the Sock Lab Rainbow yarns from June 2019, held together with a strand of Aloft.

Making a sweater by following the boxy top instructions in the ebook, then adding sleeves. That’s the plan!

Update: the plan worked!

I used the white with rainbow blips together with the rainbow stripes on the first side, using lots of the 2-color patterns. It was a bit MUCH, so I decided that could be the back of the sweater and I’d tone it done a smidge for the front. So for my second square, I used the rainbow speckle, and I did some texture patterns and some lace patterns.

I worked the two squares on the bias until there were 117 stitches across at the widest point.

For the sleeves, I used the full rainbow yarn, and I picked up stitches around the armholes (after seaming) then just knit a tube with decreases. I knit them two at a time, so I didn’t really keep track of anything; I think I started out decreasing like every 10, and then it seemed like they were too wide so I went down to every 8 rows… something like that.

Then for the cuffs, I did a garter stitch ridge (knit a row, purl a row) followed by 1 single row of the rainbow stripe yarn. That yarn was almost exactly one color per round, so I just did that with no adjustments six times and got my perfect rainbow cuffs!
