Used an I hook with two strands of various baby yarns and Bernat Softee, which is dk. Found two strands of dk was too dense, kinda stiff.

Remembered that working through just the back loop makes a softer fabric, so did that on the second row of the two-row lilac Softee stripe, and on the row following the stripe. Check out the cool ridges this made - easily seen in the close-up photo.

That made a big difference; this is a soft fluffy blanket. It’s also stretchier then a plain double-crochet ripple; I assume that’s why it turned out narrower than I expected. ?

So next time (I have more Softee) I’ll do eleven double crochet stitches in each up or downhill run. Must remember - that will be 10% wider, so will need 10% more yarn.

It already weighs 28 ounces (4 more than usual). With another 10%… 31 ounces. No problem - I’ve got a little more baby and sport in stash. lol
