Although I wouldn’t call this week’s ripple a “scrap” afghan, I was happy to use four balls of blue scrap yarn in it. They happened to most closely match the blue in “Candy Print”, the cream yarn with dashes of several pastels that started this blanket.

The other yarn worth mentioning is the purple chenille, interesting not only because it’s made of a mix of purple and white fibers, but because I salvaged it from a thrift store sweater, the least expensive source I’ve found (other than donations :-) for chenille yarns. I usually get at least a pound, often much more, depending on sweater size, for about $2 on Wednesdays when most clothing is half-off.

As always I played with the pattern by using one strand, an H hook, and put ten dc stitches in each up or downhill run.
