A way to use the little red, green and white yarn balls left after I made a series of “Candy Cane” Christmas ripples for foster children. Most of the scrap balls are too small to even make one row in a ripple afghan.
The four-cluster center in a granny square only takes about two yards of yarn and the next round, about four yards, so even mini scrap balls can become several of these little granny squares!
Using the join-as-you-go technique.
Learned these little squares are called saltines! Should this be called Christmas in Saltines instead? hoho
4/19/12 - Ta-Dah! SO HaPpY!! with the red granny square border. It was definitely worth going through the “auditioning” process.
Then I added a round of red granny clusters, because any other color would have cut into the round of red squares, quickly followed by two rounds of white and one of bright green. Ended with a dark green single crochet round.
Finished size 44” x 63”
3/6/12 - Border Tryouts - 532 squares = 36” x 55”, large enough, so let’s pick a border:

2/3/12 - Progress Blog Post - about 300 squares = 32” x 35”
12/30/11- Blog Update - 197 squares = 28” x 32”
