Notes

Cast on with the Chain Cast-On (Cap Sease Cast On Bind Off p. 63), which I think I have heard called a crochet cast-on, but that’s not listed in her list of alternate names for it.

Misread the inc row as K4, m1, *k2, m1, etc… so I ended up with 105 instead of 102 sts after the 2nd inc row; so I just left a few more incs out of the last inc row to make up for it.

Split for sleeves after 12 rows of gull pattern (so the splitting row was a WS row, which I thought would work better with the cast-on under the arms). I put the sleeves on stitch holders to come back to and cast on 14 sts at each underarm with a Crocheted Provisional Cast-On (p. 88)

I will totally do the sleeves in the round if/when I make another one of these (no extra work + avoids seaming!) but I think I’ll do them first and then come back to the body, so there’s less bulk flipping around as you go around and around on the 42 stitches.

Worked 13 repeats total of gull pattern on the body; 9 repeats + 1 row on the sleeves. (Both counts include the gull pattern on the yoke.)

The buttons are LaMode 1602 (Style 46456), $2.50 for three 1/2-inch buttons, which was the exact number I needed.
