Notes

I added two needle sizes cuz I cast on with US 3/3.25mm, worked the first row with them, then switched to US 2 1/2.

I’ve been dyeing yarns all summer with natural dyes. This is one of those yarns. I originally wanted to post them in my Etsy store, but can’t capture the colors truly enough with the camera, so I’m saving them for the Sewanee Fall Craft Fair, Fiber in the Boro, and my classes. This one is dyed with quebracho red and overdyed with local black walnut hulls which I have been buried in this season.
The yarn is a high twist singles 100% superwash merino.
This yarn is a little challenging to dye because it tends to ply onto itself in the dyebath, so there are often small areas that don’t take the dye well, especially with a color like Quebracho which doesn’t penetrate as well as some. So I overdyed with walnuts, an exhaust bath from another dye lot. I love the color! The camera pumps the orange factor so it’s really a soft, matte tomato, really stunning! I’m knitting to see if the streaky spots look intentional and I think they do. I like them just fine.
