In all honesty, this is going to be less a “scarf” than a “wide neck warmer.” I just needed a mindless little project to work on while writing, and this is it.
My friend suggested adding a button and making a cowl-like neck warmer, so. :)
We’ll see how long it gets with the yarn I have.
Blogged about here and here.
12-13-10: Aaaand we’re done! Just have to wash, block, and dry, and then I’ll see where our length ends up. :)
Using the Beginner Project: Easy Lace Scarf pattern, modified as follows:
CO 40 stitches.
Row 3’s lace pattern of (K2Tog) 3 times, (YO,K1) 6 times, (K2Tog) 3 times is repeated twice:
My modified lace pattern: (K2Tog) 3 times, (YO,K1) 6 times, (K2Tog) 6 times, (YO,K1) 6 times, (K2Tog) 3 times
SO:
Row 1: Slip 1 as if to P, K all remaining stitches, turn
Row 2: Slip 1 as if to P, K1, purl to last 2 stitches, K2, turn
Row 3: Slip 1 as if to P, K1, work my modified lace pattern as directed to last 2 stitches, K2, turn
Row 4a: Slip 1 as if to P, K1, (P1, K1) to last 2 stitches, K2, turn
Row 4b: as Row 2 above
Worked in blocks of row 1 - 4a, row 1 - 4b so that there is not a line of ribbing across the scarf as in the original pattern, but a more gradual rippled effect.
