50% Merino / 50% Tussah silk ecru-colored fiber purchased from Pollywogs in 2002, and spun and plied on my Ashford Elizabeth wheel on a high-speed flyer. Yarn ranges from a light fingering weight to a bulky weight within the same skein.
Edit: 28 Jan 2011 - 4’ of scarf! Hope the final ball of yarn will finish it… We’ll see. :)
Edit: 24 Mar 2011 - Just cast off from the last skein - washing and blocking next!
Using the Beginner Project: Easy Lace Scarf pattern, modified as follows:
CO 40 stitches.
Row 3’s lace pattern of {(K2Tog) 3 times, (YO,K1) 6 times, (K2Tog) 3 times} is repeated twice:
My modified lace pattern: {(K2Tog) 3 times, (YO,K1) 6 times, (K2Tog) 6 times, (YO,K1) 6 times, (K2Tog) 3 times}
SO:
Row 1: Slip 1 as if to P, K all remaining stitches, turn
Row 2: Slip 1 as if to P, K1, P to last 2 stitches, K2, turn
Row 3: Slip 1 as if to P, K1, work my modified lace pattern as directed to last 2 stitches, K2, turn
Row 4a: Slip 1 as if to P, K1, (P1, K1) to last 2 stitches, K2, turn
Row 4b: as Row 2 above
I have been working in blocks of row 1-4a, row 1-4b so that there is not a line of ribbing across the scarf as in the original pattern, but a more gradual ripple effect.
