Using a size 2, 16” circular needle, CO 132 stitches.
Ribbing: (K1, P1) until piece measures 1” (approx 8 rows with my gauge).
(Note to self: considering how loosely you appear to knit ribbing, you might be better off dropping a needle size to do the ribbing section.)
Rows 1-6: Purl all odd rows; knit all even rows (6 rows in garter stitch).
Rows 7-11: Knit. (5 rows stockinette)
Row 12: Purl.
Row 13-16: Knit. (4 rows stockinette)
Row 17: Purl.
Row 18-20: Knit. (3 rows stockinette)
Row 21: Purl.
Row 22-23: Knit. (2 rows stockinette)
Row 24: Purl
Row 25: Knit
Row 26: Purl
Rows 27-46: repeat Rows 7 - 26.
Row 47-50: Knit. (4 rows stockinette)
Row 51: (K10, K2tog) for entire round. (121 stitches; total of 5 rows of stockinette)
Row 52: Purl.
Row 53: Knit.
Row 54: (K9, K2tog) entire round. (110 stitches)
Row 55-56: Knit. (2 rows stockinette; total of 4 rows stockinette)
Row 57: (P8, P2tog) entire round. (99 stitches)
Row 58-59: Knit. (2 rows stockinette)
Row 60: (K7, K2tog) entire round. (88 stitches; total of 3 rows stockinette)
Row 61: Purl.
Row 62: Knit.
Row 63: (K6, K2tog) entire round. (77 stitches; total of 2 rows stockinette)
Row 64: Purl.
Row 65: Knit.
Row 66: (P5, P2tog) entire round. (66 stitches)
When only half of the originally cast-on stitches remain (in this case, 66 stitches), decrease every row until done, switching to DPNs when needed.
Row 67: (K4, K2tog) entire round.
Row 68: (K3, K2tog) entire round.
Row 69: (K2, K2tog) entire round.
Row 70: (K1, K2tog) entire round.
Row 71: K2tog around.
Row 73: P2tog around. Break yarn. Draw through remaining stitches. Sew in ends.
