I want a loose fitting and very drapey jumper to wear with slim jeans and boots.
Swatching, I decided on 7 mm needles, which gives the drape and transparency I’m going for (the yarnlabel recommends 3 - 4mm needles, so it’s a very loose tension I’m working with!).
I begin by casting on for the neckline: 92st (40 + 6 +40 + 6).
I did two rounds of 2by2 ribbing, then did some short rows on the back (for a rounded upper back).
Then continued knitting in the round for 1 more round.
Then I started raglan increases on every other round.
Sleeves: (30 st) Pick up and knit 5 st (beginning at the sideseam), knit 30 st, pick up and knit 5 st. (40 st)
Next round: knit 17, 3kfb, 3 kfb, k17 (46 st.
Next round: Knit
BIG EPIC KNITTING FAIL
I finished it. Tried it on. Perfect. Just need a light blocking. Soak it. Then decide to spin it on the lowest cycle (like I often do with knits) before blocking it. BIG mistake. It felted. Now it’s not loose and drapey and lovely. It’s stiff and tight.
Crying and cursing. Argh!
