Beginning of pattern:
I was disappointed in the pattern’s lack of instruction on how to successfully use intarsia in the round. Current methods all seem to leave a seam at the side and it becomes a bit of a pain in the long haul.
Instead I opted to CO 52 sts and work the pattern/chart flat. I stranded the yarn in the back rather than doing ‘proper’ intarsia for convenience.
Body notes;
After I worked the last row of the body (row 34) I left the piece on the needles and mattress stitched up the side for a pretty much invisible seam, all the way up to the stitches on the needles. Then I turned the work inside out and did the 3 needle bindoff as instructed. It turned out fabulous!
Arms notes:
When I worked the arms, I knit as instructed until I reached the hand. I did the increase round with the MC, then knit one round. I cut off the CC and left a 6” tail. Using this tail I closed the gap on one side, then from the inside out I closed the tube to the arm by picking up the purl strands of the last knitted row CC, from left to right to left to right etc. This will make stuffing and shaping easier. I left the tail in the hand as I stuffed.
Legs notes:
The pattern has you cast on for 6 sts and join in the round. This makes the heel of the foot and needs to be sewn up with the tail. Next time I will avoid this by casting on with Judy’s Magic CO, it will be the exact same result with a neater heel.
