Notes

Gauge matches pattern gauge with 4mm needles.

Adjusted size for 23” by CO 116 instead of 112.

After I finished the chart, I realized the hat would be too short and fit too tightly for me, so I knitted an extra 7 rows stockinette stitch before decreasing.

Before starting decrease for shaping, decreased 4 sts evenly across the row to reduce back to 112 sts, then started shaping on following row.

I’m very happy with the final results! This was my first time knitting stranded colorwork and I have to say I’m very pleased with how it went. This pattern is great for beginners because at this gauge with a 4 stitches wide chart, you don’t need to catch the floats. I did catch floats at the beginning of certain rows where the stitches were more than 4 stitches apart due to the switches in the chart, but in the long run it wasn’t necessary.

I knit by holding a strand in each hand and alternating between continental and throwing. It was unusual but interesting! I might make more of these hats, they work up really quickly.
