The scarf is started with a provisional cast-on, knitted as one long piece, then twisted and grafted together with Kitchener stitch to form a Möbius strip (an object that has only one side). This represents the reincarnation and rebirth in the game - continuously returning to the beginning and working though another lifetime until self-sacrifice once again helps save others.
Most images are taken from the Prophesy Caves’ art, representing:
The 6 (only 5 are shown) gateways to the realms
A Sky Child gaining a new wing level
The rain of the Hidden Forest
A doorway to the Prophesy Caves
A boat from Isle of Dawn and Golden Wasteland
The whale of Sanctuary Islands
The symbol on the door to Eden
Daylight Prairie and Isle constellations
Eden’s mountain, Orbit, and the last candle after the credits
Rebirth, and finally, a return to the beginning…
The painting in the first cave of the game with the command/request:
Go forth, child. Return our spirits to the stars.
Things to do differently:
- make sure images fit nicely into colors
- put favorite images in darkest areas (this scarf attempts to show the rotation/reincarnation aspect of the game so it is in ‘chronological order’
- twist stitches to make them look more uniform
- flip pattern on ‘back side’ when they have a clear orientation and look backward on the back
- make sure the pattern on the ends flips with the scarf (you can see that I matched the pattern as if it was to be grafted without being twisted first)
