Made two swatches, one with automatic doublebed pattern on my Duo 80, one in stockinette, SS 3, on my Passap Automatic. Washed them by 60 degrees celcius and ironed them, also hot. The stockinette one was 33 x 19 cm before and is now 30 x 19 cm. The patterned one was 22 x 17 cm and is now 28 x 18. I prefer the stockinette. There is no bias and the ironing killed the curling completely. (Hope it stays like this.)
June, 18th, 2018: After having knitted all the parts, I washed them, easy care, 30 degrees Celsius in the washing mashine. Lots and lots of lint! There was over elongation vertically and too much shrinking horizontally - not really predictable from the swatches!
I threw everything into the dustbin, even the bags in which I had washed them and the old towels on which they had been dried.
Biggest knitting flop ever!
Okay… a few days later I took the parts out of the bin and washed them 60 degrees Celsius in the washing machine. Again the linen shed lots of flint and fiber.
Dried the parts and ironed them with a damp cloth.
Sewed them together with the sewing machine.
The T-Shirt is much longer than intended and not as wide as I had wanted it to become.
But can test now how linen wears in hot weather…
