In real life, there is a decent amount of difference between the red pop of color and the black.
I weave the tails in as I go. Fold the new color over the needle and ply the tail back on its self. Slip this loop to the right needle and begin working. Work this loop together with the first stitch of the row on the following pass.
Weights after clue 1
Color A - 77.2 g Pale Moonlight (grey)
Color B - 77.5 g Stuck in Traffic (red)
Color C - 70.3 g Black
Color D - 77.4 g Vampire Queen (multi)
I added different color stitch marks to frame each of the slipped stitch sections (11 stitches) so I didn’t have to keep counting the garter stitches between them. I moved them the first row of eah color block change and removed the after clue 2 was complete.
Weights after clue 2
Color A - 59.6 g Pale Moonlight (grey)
Color B - 60.0 g Stuck in Traffic (red)
Color C - not used Black
Color D - 49.5 g Vampire Queen (multi)
I put different color stitch markers (than my main stitch markers) between the stitch changes of row 2. This made it so that I only had to pay attention on row 4.
Color A - Switch at special color markers.
Color B - When knitting (ws garter) Switch 2 stitches before the colored marker. When purling (ws stockinette) switch 2 stitches after the next colored marker. Pay attention for the p1 (always stockinette) after the real stitch marker and 3 special stitches on row 4. It doesn’t follow the rules. Pay attention to the last stitch (p1) of row 2 at the end of the repeats. This stitch is also always stockinette. Remove colored markers after finishing clue 3.
Weights after clue 3
Color A - 37.4 g Pale Moonlight (grey)
Color B - 37.4 g Stuck in Traffic (red)
Color C - not used Black
Color D - not used Vampire Queen (multi)
Weights after clue 4

Color B - not used Stuck in Traffic (red)
Color C - not used Black
Color D - not used Vampire Queen (multi)
I just can’t bring myself to make the loops yet… my favorite part of a shawl is the dangly points. I also love the eyelet edge.
