Notes

Plans - Starting with the black babel and fading towards the green, I have a partial skein of brown gold if I need a bit more around the cuffs. Starting with the purple lace weight, and then fading to the green. I can’t believe all of these were picked up during the same yarn crawl with no plans to be used together.

X-cast on for the L size. I chose my size based on the upper arm measurement. This should give me about 10 inches of positive ease over my 44-45 inch bust. I am 5’6” tall. My upper arms are 11-12” around.

I started the short rows with size 4s and was getting 24 sts in 4 inches, and I noticed it was uneven when I started going in the round, so when I split for the front and back to be worked flat, I used a size 5 on the purls because I purl tighter than I knit. Now I’m getting 23 stitches in 4 inches.

89.2 g purple lace after short rows.
75.1 g black after short rows.

79.9 g purple lace after short rows.
56.8 g black after 2 repeats on front side.

4.65 g purple lace per repeat
9.15 g black per repeat

So I’m going to blend in the grey on the front during the 3rd repeat, then work the back to match.

75.2 g purple lace after front fade rows.
102.3 g grey after fade front rows.
52.2 g black after fade front side.

4.7 g purple lace for 16 row fade.
4.6 g black for 16 row fade.

My plan is to save about 40% of the yarn for the sleeves. 30% for the front, 30% for the back. I need about 10 g for the body fade, 12.5 for the arm fades in and 12.5 for the arm fades out.

April 30
46.2 g purple before joining in the round.
38 7 g black for sleeves
57.4 g grey before joining in the round.

Started the fade when I had about 43 g of grey left. Doing the 2 4 2 2 4 2 color fade under one arm of the sweater and doing the lace fade every other row under the other arm. Running the float twist up next to the p stitch lines. I don’t think I will do the YOs under the arms. I will do backwards loop instead.

Picked up stitches. Each stitch under the arm, purlwise for the purl stitch, then skipping every 4th row around. I ended up with 106. I did a p2tog for the 2 purl stitch seams. And I did 7 k2tog on either side of the shoulder seam roughly in line with the decrease stitch markers to get down to 82 stitches.

I misplaced my scale, so I guessed when to start fading out the black on the sleeves. I started after the 3rd decrease repeat. Then stretched it out for almost 4 more repeats. Randomly 3 1 1 2 1 2 1 3 2 3 1 trying to match the sleeves. I wrapped the carried yarn after the first stitch of each round.

I started the fade from purple to green on the sleeves when I had finished 8 decrease repeats.

3.3 g purple before sleeve fades.
87 g green lace before sleeve fades.
11.3 g grey before sleeve fades.
65.8 g grey green before sleeve fades.

Sept 3, 2020

US size 2 for the cuffs/hem
49 g grey green after sleeves.
76.7 g green lace after sleeves.

Sept 17, 2020

26.8 g Gold left after body. (10-15 g used in my Trouvaille socks)
22.9 g green lace after body.

Even though I really wanted to use up all of the yarn, it was just getting too long. Love the feel of the silk with the cashmere. A perfect substitute to holding mohair.

Notes for nwxt time: go down a size or two in the body, ise the same size arms.
