Notes

My plans are to hold 2 strands of the malabrigo baby silk alpaca lace weight together with one of the Alexandra’s crafts merino, silk, and yak fingering. I have misc Zen Serenity silk plus that I can add in as needed.

For Clue 1, I am starting with the Zen SS+ OOAK from Yarning for You 103.7 g, and the Black Butte in Autumn 96.4 g at start.

Autumn - 68.9 g left after section 1.
SS+ OOAK - 84.8 g left after section 1. Hold with Forest in section 3 or 4.

Skein 1 of archangel (visually darker) 49.0 g - beginning of section 2. Lace weight held doubled. Hold with Autumn.

12 rows double malabrigo same color.
6 rows double malabrigo one of each transition color (old and new) ( ha ha. In reality, this ended up being random based on what I liked visually.)

Archangel skein 2 viually lighter.
49.4 g Pearl (skipped, too much contrast).
48.8 g Arco Isis
50.8 g Zarzamora
A few rows into Zarzamora, cut Autumn, and joined Forest 101.0 g.

Section 3 - 2 color brioche
Row1a, use reds for knit stitches on rs. (decrease row)
Row1b, use blues for purl stitches on rs.
Row 2a, use reds for purl stitches on ws.
Row 2b, use blues for knit stitches on ws.

63.4 g forest after section 3
33.4 g zaza after section 3
27.6 g autumn after section 3
28.1 g arch after section 3

41.3 g forest after section 4
69.3 g OOAK after section 4

Decided to go darker with my chevron section, so I found some Fyberspates 41.3 g in my stash in Wine Gum. It’s a lace weight, so I’ll hold it doubled with my Forest color.

26.1 g Forest after section 5
30.4 g Wine gum after section 5

37.8 g ooak after section 6.
Held with 2 strands of lace Marled from double wine gum to double archangle dark. Changing one strand at a time using zaza and arco as a few stripes.

Section 7 - I picked up my stitches purlwise because I liked the decorative edge rolled to the front. I pulled the stitch before the m1 stitches through long enough to twist on the m1 loop, then snugged it back down before the next pick up stitch. If you don’t make the m1 from the loop behind the work, and just throw tour yarn after the stitch, you will have lines of yarn that cross your pretty braid.

Section 7 - held ooak with forest. Ran out of forest in this section and added Zen grey/blue Arctic color.

39.1 g Arctic after section 7
0 g Forest after section 7
9.7 g ooak after section 7

Section 8 - holding Arctic with Autumn
Ran out of Autumn in sect 8. Switched to doubled archangel.

2.1 g dark archangel left after section 8
0 g autumn after section 8
17.5 g Arctic after section 8

14.8 arctic left after pick up for bind off. Ran out of dark archangel towards the end of picking up section 3 (brioche). Joined light archangel.

I-cord corner - after joining to the last stitch of a side, slip 3 stitches to left needle. K3. Slip 3 stitches to left needle. K2, k1below. Slip 3 stitches to left needle. Continue with regular i-cord for next side.

I-cord tips - i flip the direction of the first stitch (like a ssk) as I slip the 3 stitches to the left needle. This keeps that stitch from twisting when I do the k2t tbl join.

2.8 g of arctic after bind off
22.9 g of light archangel after bind off (2 strands held)
22.4 g zaza after bind off (1 strand held)

25 x 108 inches before blocking
27 x 120 inches after blocking

Notes for next time:
When picking up stitches for section 2, pick up from back to front purl wise so that the side stitches roll to the front and match the rest of that section. See pic.
Pick up like my notes for section 7 to get rid of the lines across the braid as well.
