Notes

February 10, 2013 Originally, I was going to just work this one up half-and-half - work the increasing rows in MC20 Passion and the decreasing rows in MC1 Sugar Pink, then border it by alternating the two colours. I was damned near finished with it when I decided to go in a different direction.

My dad showed me pictures on facebook of one of my best friends from when I was in middle and high school. We were practically like sisters - and by that I mean we fought like sisters! Anyway, she’s pregnant with twin girls (at least I hope my information is correct). I decided I wanted to send her my first No-Brainer Baby Blanket in Marble Chunky and work this one up to match it, only with a slightly different colour scheme.

So I ripped out the old half-and-half blanket, went down to a size K hook (the size I used for the first No-Brainer Baby Blanket in Marble Chunky) and had at the no-brainer once again. I need a total of 32 increasing rows before doing the decreases, working four rows of the MC20 Passion, then four of the MC1 Sugar Pink. I’m about twenty-four rows into it and I must say, I like the way the colours are working up much better than the half-and-half version. I expect it will be done in the next couple of days.

March 9, 2013 Okay, so a bit longer than a few days. I’m having trouble with the border. To match my other Marble Chunky No-Brainer, I did a round of single crochet stitches in Passion, then switched to the Sugar Pink for the final round of shell edging. My stitch count didn’t work out quite as I’d like, though. I’m hoping to figure out a way to work the shell stitch into the existing sc round. I really hope I can make it work, because the sc round was difficult to work and I’m really not keen on ripping it out and re-doing the whole thing.

April 3, 2013 Figured out the border by basically copying what I had done on the first Marble Chunky No-Brainer, which I had kinda fudged anyway.

It’s funny because even though I used two different colours of the same yarn, the yarn in the Passion skein seemed like it was a little heavier weight than the Sugar Pink. As a result, the sections of Passion stripes are a little tighter and the blanket as a whole doesn’t drape quite as nicely as the first Marble Chunky No-Brainer. It also came out a bit smaller than the first blanket, even after blocking. I think the new mommy liked it anyway, though.
