Can’t resist a Just Crafty MKAL Mitten!

2/18. This project isn’t going very well. I tried the jacquard ladder method on the first mitten, but then abandoned it. It is better for not showing through, but I found it confusing to keep my count on the chart with the extra stitches for the ladders. I’m glad I tried it though. Always good to learn something new. It does give a much smoother appearance on the outside. I wish I liked doing it.
I was running short of the MC color on the first mitten so I began thumb decreases on round 83. Just barely squeaked out the yarn. I had divided in half before starting, so I should have the same amount for the second one.

2/23 On the second mitten I actually ran out of yarn with just a few rounds to go on the thumb. I found a very small scrap of blue yarn that I think was Hazel Knits Artisan Sock in Cirrus and managed to finish the thumb. Not perfect, but not bad. And I would have hated to abandon these at this point.
This is definitely not my best knitting, but I did challenge myself to try a new stranding method, so it was a learning experience. It’s a cute pattern though, and it reminds me Spring will be coming.

I thought they might be coming out small, but after blocking they are fine. Thumbs would have been too long for me at the longer length.
