The pattern says to use size 11 needles, but I’m a tight knitter so I went with a size 15. I nearly got gauge with the 15s. I used 40 inch Addi needles. I wasn’t sure that I liked the needles at first, but after working with them for a while, I really did enjoy them.
The pattern calls for a 6-row top and bottom border and a 5-stitch border on each side. I prefer thicker borders on my quilts and figured the same might go for knitted blankets. So I did seed stitch for 12 rows on the top and bottom. I also increased the number of stitches for the seed stitch on the side borders from 5 to 9 on each side. I love the results and the border is much more substantial. The pattern calls for 7 repeats of the 20-row lacework, but I only had enough yarn for 6 repeats.
The blanket turned out at 45 inches by 55 inches; a nice size for throw.
This is really great project if you are looking for a blanket with some texture. I really like the lace pattern and in the super bulky weight yarn, it looks a little like trees or flowers instead of eyelets. I think the gold color really adds to the glamour of this throw.
