This is the first hat I created and made it 3 times before it came out the way my minds eye seen it.
I seen a how to for the loops and thought wow I need a hat using that. And created this pattern. My hat is 38 rows around and is 8 inches tall with the brim. This is worked flat then seamed closed, with the closing of the hat added then the brim is done. Here is a link for the loops how to that I used: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/559150109977927692/

Abbreviations:
ch-chain
dc-double crochert
MC-main color
C2-color 2
Fpdc-front post double crochet
Bpdc-back post double crochet
Sl st-slip stitch

Materials needed:
#7 crochet hook
scissors
daring needle to work in ends
yarn of your color choice

Pattern:

Row 1:
With main color chain 20, working in back bumps of the chain, dc in the 4th. from hook and in each across. (18 dc)

Row 2:
Turn, ch 3 (counts as a dc here and through out pattern)
dc in the next 5 dc’s. Drop mc and add c2 before finishing the last dc, finish the dc stitch. Ch 15, drop c2 and pick up mc, sl st into the front two looks of the dc. first loop made.
dc into the next 6 dc, drop the mc and pick up the c2 finish the last dc with the new color. Ch 15 repeat as last loop made. Dc in last 6 dc. (18 dc-2 loops of ch 15)

Row 3:
Turn, ch 3, dc in next 5 pick up c2 and finish off last dc. sc into and around the loop 25 times. Drop loop on hook and insert your hook from the right of the loops going through the 2 front loop of the dc and pick up the dropped loop, pick up mc and yarn over and pull through all loops on hook. Dc 6 times, repeat for the next loop. Dc to end of row.

Row 4-38 or until the length needed to fix around your head.

Turn hat ends together with the loops on the inside, sl st closed. Don’t cut either color yarn.
Round 1: With MC ch 3, Fpdc around the first space, Bpdc around next, repeat around, sl st in top of ch 3.

Round 2-3: Repeat the Fpdc and Bpdc around. Cut a long tail and weave in and out around the top, pull tight and tie off. Top of hat is complet.

Turn hat right side out.
Brim:
Round 1: with the c2 ch 1,sc in same stitch. SC around the entire hat, sl st into first sc.

Round 2-3:
Ch 3, Fpdc around same sc, Bpdc around next sc, repeat around, sl st into first Fpdc. Repeat for 3 rounds. Cut off yarn and weave in end.

To finish your loops, you start with 1 loop and weave in the next loop repeat around, tack down your last loop to the first loop. Do the same the the next set of loops.

The video shows how to do the loops, but used double crochet, for my hat, I used single crochet so it isn’t so bulky. Let me know what you think.
