22 Aug 09: No pictures yet, and I haven’t decided if I’m making the hat/booties yet. I’m not seaming!!! Woot! It’s actually pretty easy to figure out how to do it in one piece.

Add up the totals for the back & sides, subtract 2, & cast on. Work as directed for 8.5”, ending on row 1, then work 22 st, cast off 5, work 49, cast off 5, work last 22.

For the sleeves, cast on 1 less than directed and work in the round (change purl rows to knit rounds). Work 6”, ending with round 1, casting off 5 stitches around the round marker (3 on one side, 2 on the other) before finishing with round 2. I’m going to try joining those cast off stitches to the cast off stitches from the back/sides to avoid underarm seaming, too!

27 Aug: Aaand, it works!!!! I’m about to start picking up stitches for the sides. Buttons or snaps? Hmmmm, buttons are cuter, but snaps are easier when dressing a wriggly baby. I think I’ll go see what options I have for both before knitting the sides…

31 Aug: I’m going with buttons, as I found the prettiest buttons at the store. They’re a bit larger than recommended, so my buttonholes are two stitches instead of one. Pictures coming as soon as I hide ends and attach the buttons!
