Sweater #4 out of 12 (for my 12 in 2012 plan).
2/7/12 - swatching. Got 23 st = 4in on 6s. My swatch really softened and evened out nicely after wet blocking: a good sign for the final product.
Slow going, but I expected that of this project, I’m working on it in between other projects. Hannah’s patterns are written so well- I really appreciate that!
2/22/12 -Am a few inches away from finishing the body. I’m eager to see how this fits me (that’s the beauty of a top down sweater! Love the color of this yarn. Hoping I can finish the whole thing soon so that I can wear it in March (post-baby).
So once again the sleeves seem wide. Now my gauge is a little bit bigger (23st instead of 24 st), however the sleeve seemed so much larger than I ever expected. I ripped back the sleeve and made some changes.
Mods:
- Added 2 inches to length of st st section before ribbing (total length of back from underarm 13 inches)
- After the 1st decrease on each sleeve, I decreased 2 sts on every 7th row until 52 sts remained, then knit in single rib for 2 inches. This makes a slimmer sleeve- much needed.
3/1/12- done. Finished it in a couple of weeks (while knitting other projects simultaneously). The sleeves look SO much better. I chose to do the stockinette stitch collar instead of the ribbed one. I know it will roll- I’m a-ok with this… after looking at so many project pictures I felt that the st st collar was more interesting than the ribbed one. Will block it tomorrow and take pictures then.
