03/03/14 Really and truly “chicken done” now that I sewed on the very last clasp this morning before work. Just in time for her birthday. There is no tassel because the recipient vetoed it.

02/16/14 Signature sent me a new needle but I got the wrong size, not a stiletto. Not happy. Anyway, I finished the coat all but the hood tassel, if I make one, and the clasps which I just ordered today. I ran out of yarn but not until I got to the back side of the facing so I substituted Cascade 220 super wash red which is not really that much thicker though it is slightly brighter red. There’s sort of an ombre effect on the facing inside.

02/04/14 Curses! The knit picks cable just broke on me also? What gives? No more cables that don’t have actual cable underneath that plastic!

02/02/14 Argh!!!! I was knitting the second row of the front facing and the Signature cable needle sheared off at the join dumping a mound of stitches in my lap and causing me to curse and gnash my teeth. I have a desperation-only knit picks set I’ve fallen back on. Not happy!

01/31/14 I cut the yarn, washed the skein and then rejoined the yarn. I had to pick the occasional chia seed stuck to the strand but it all turned out ok. Hood half done. I just don’t this 1.5 balls left is going to be enough.

01/11/2014 Note to self: put project piece and yarn in a plastic bag in the knitting bag/purse. The yarn ball being used for the hood has suffered indignities from a soft peppermint stick and a mangled snack bar from the bottom of my bag. Oops. Do you wash the skein attached to the hood before its knit or do you knit it with sticky goo on it and then wash the piece?

12/29/13 I have to say that the welt on these pieces is a complete pain. It looks great but what a task.

12/25/13 Sleeves done, started on hood today. It seems ginormous, the hood.

11/15/13 Main body is done. Working on the sleeves and about 6 inches in to those.

07/28/13 Just finished cable/decrease #3 for photo. Glad to have super stiletto Signature needles for those.

This has been in my queue for a while. I bought the yarn a while back so I am going to use it. The yarn is squeaky…have to say I dislike that but I bet I might get over it when I see how the coat comes together. I ran out of the first skein almost at the end of the 20th row. If I’d gauged the cast on better I probably could have just made it.
