Notes

Très Chelle Knits
Added one extra round of dc
For the eyes I mostly experimented. The larger eye I started making a symmetrical oval with 3 sts in the middle and 4 sc in each end. Then sc in the middle sc and 2 sc per acre on each end sc. Then I worked the middle and smaller end straights sc and the other end 2 sc in each sc. Cat’s eyes are not regular, so perfection isn’t needed. For the smaller eye I started with 5 sc in a magic loop and followed with a typical circle pattern until I made it to 3 sc, 2 sc in next st. Then I worked sc and sc increases on half the circle and hdc and hdc increases.

The black parts of the eyes are 5 sc in a magic loop.

The face took a few tries. The nose is : passes wrapped around 2 dc on the hat. Then I put a long stitch down the middle. And added the diagonal mouth pieces. I did not cut the yarn between sections.
Triangle ear: make 4
Chain 8, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn, skip first sc, sc across. Ch 1 turn, sc to last 2 sts, slip last 2 stitches together. Ch1, turn. Skip 1st sc and sc to end. Fasten off leaving a nice long tail.

Take 2 triangles. Use the tail from one to slip stitch or sc the two triangles together. At the tip of the triangle ch 3, slip stitch in 1st chain. Slip stitch or sc back down the other side of the triangle. Repeat with last 2 triangles. Attach to the hat.

Rounder Ear: with hat front facing you attach yarn around post of dc in the 4th row along the right edge of hat ( when lying flat) maybe 1 dc in from edge so ear sits more to the front. Ch1, 4 sc around the post of the dc moving towards the top of the hat. 1 sc on the bar between this and the next dc moving towards the back of the hat, 4 sc around the dc post directly next to the one you just worked into moving from top to bottom of the post, 1 sc on the bar between the 2 dc you have already worked, join to first sc.
Work 3 rounds of sc.
3sc, scdec, 3 sc, scdec
Sc around
2 sc, scdec, 2 sc, scdec
Scdec around,
Sc all remaining stitches that remain as one. Fasten off.

Repeat ear on left side, but attach it to a dc on the 3rd round of dc to emulate the quirky personality of cat.
