What do you do when you’re 6 days overdue, it’s 5am & you can’t sleep? You cast on a last-minute baby knitting project of course! This only uses 50g of fingering weight yarn apparently so it should be a perfect use of that leftover ball of Goomy 50 that I have :)

29/09: Well it seems that casting this on was what finally decided baby to see the light; she was born that night! I’d done quite a bit of it by then, the whole body and most of the edging and have been working on it hits by bits the last few days. Made the most of bub being asleep and kiddos being at grandma’s this afternoon to finish it off. Just have to weave the ends in and block :)

02/10: I can’t believe I hadn’t made one of those before. I’m completely converted! It’s not only quick and easy to knit, using very little yarn, but it’s also the best newborn cardi. The open front is just perfect for skin-to-skin contact and cuddles while keeping baby’s back and arms nice and warm. I’m putting this cardi right at the top of my baby knitting gifts list.
