My friend who works for the obama campaign just had a baby. And babies need hats!
Using the knitcircus pattern here: http://knitcircus.typepad.com/knitcircus/2008/02/hope-hat...
Keeping stitch count but using fingering weight yarn(Baby Ull) for a baby that will be 4 months on election day.
I used tricksy knitter’s charting software to chart out the back (2012):
UPDATE: still need to duplicate stitch the red on the logo, and block. I wish I had added ten stitches to each side and added stars or something in between. The hat is about 14” unstretched which is OK for a newborn and probably through the election, but probably it’ll be tight by inauguration. I will make a simpler bigger one for the rest of winter. This is the most fun hat I’ve made.
DONE UPDATE: I made another hat that will fit a growing baby all winter (added 10 stitches and some flakes on either side, total 108 cast on sts). They can put the small one on a teddy bear. I want to make a big sized one for myself (same pattern, but worsted)
