Notes

I’m dooooooone! I finished all the finishing work on my birthday and it’s the best birthday gift I could have given myself!

Notes on yarn:
- I love the three I chose. I’m obsessed with single ply fingering weight yarn and prefer it over plied ANY day. HOWEVER. The Mrs. Crosby Satchel is considerably softer than the other two yarns and the slightest bit more plush. It doesn’t affect the final product at all, but I did notice it while I was knitting.

  • Hand dyed yarn is seriously the best. I knew this already but this project really emphasized it for me since the subtle color changes of the yellow are lovely and the variations in the navy blue are amazing in the natural light.

  • I estimated down to what I assume is the yardage I used since I didn’t use the entirety of any of the skeins. I had the most left over of the blue.

Notes on Pattern:
- Love this pattern! It was easy to follow and simple and repetitive enough to knit while watching TV.

  • I was unsure about the picot edging as I was doing it, but it’s definitely growing on me. It’s evened out as I’ve been wearing the shawl so that’s definitely a plus.

02-03-2016

A nightmare come true after spending months on this shawl: after blocking, I noticed that a bit of the blue has bled onto the cream and yellow.

It’s my own fault for not even thinking this would happen, but it’s the first time I’ve knit and blocked something with such variation of color. It’s not TERRIBLY noticeable, but I know it’s there, and I’m going to be kicking myself forever.
