Notes

I used some wonderful hand dyed wool I have had in the stash for about 15 years waiting for the right project. It was dyed by Mary France Davidson, a dye master who used natural dyes to produce the wonderful colors in her last years. I held two strands of the worsted weight together. Her magic in crafting the green with gold undertones is perfect for this project.

I added three leaves that are supposed to be oak but altered can be holly and three small red bobbles knit separately for holly berries instead of the pom poms.
The pattern for the leaves and bobbles are from Nicky Epstein’s scarf book.

This is really a great pattern and the money spent goes to a wonderful cause so it’s a win-win all the way around. I had the form in stash too so it’s a craft closet cleaning project just in time for the season. I started knitting at 3 pm and it was off my needles by the 10 pm news. The holly leaves and berries were done in about 30 minutes later.
