Elaine won the “custom handknit socks” in the gift exchange this year and sent me these spec:

• black
• no wool (her feet get hot)
• size 8 shoes

I made a tester from some bamboo yarn Julia suggested and size 3 needles.

The tester basically worked. She suggested maybe just a smidge narrower (by a stitch - so I’m knitting it across 32 instead of 33 stitches) and starting the ribbing just a smidge higher. I ordered some Bamboo Pop in black and am almost done with the first sock.

8/13: tested the first sock on her foot on Saturday and got the thumbs up! Onward to sock 2.

9/25: these have been done for soooo long but I can’t bring myself to just finish weaving in ends and wash them. Why is this part so challenging?!?
