Huge thanks to Purl City Yarns for having a prize draw on Yarn Shop day! Neither the yarn nor the pattern were something I would normally choose, and what a great thing that was.

The yarn is absolutely gorgeous, like sunshine in string form. It’s silky but not too slippery, and the colour is stunning. The pattern is simple enough for an inexperienced lace knitter like me to work without having to constantly frog back. My Granny asked for a shawl for her 89th birthday this year, but only three weeks before the big day, so I made the Marguerite shawl in a pretty purple 4 ply. Just after I finished it and sent it off, I popped in to PCY for some cozy Shetland wool for a couple of hats, and entered the prize draw. So delighted to win this, and the timing was perfect. I’m going back to Lewis next week to visit Granny and can take her the shawl she deserves :)
