Notes

Update August 10: Done! It was a good thing for Ravellenics, challenging but successful in the end. I love the yarn, I love the colour, I love the pattern, I didn’t overall enjoy knitting it (too many nupps and Birch patterns), but it certainly was interesting. And it worked out very well, even the attached border ended precisely at the spot I wanted it to. So now it’s blocking and then showing off the shawl :-)))

Update August 8:Yay! 91.5 out of 110 tiers done. Made a real effort today, so it’s 91.5 down, 18.5 more to do plus top edging, blocking and taking reasonable pictures. Might go outside for those. Or maybe I’m able to go on as I’ve done the last two days and finish by Friday, then I would have the opportunity to have the pictures done in my knitting café. I can’t believe it, it really seems to work out! And it is quite lengthy now, even in unblocked state. So no more worries about length any more.

Update August 6: Well, after rather careful blocking and measuring my progress I’m a bit relieved, since I won’t have to knit 44 repeats, but just 34. Then, with careful blocking, the stole will measure 2,10 metres (about 87.5 inches), which will be about enough. So that’s better than the daunting idea of long nights in order to finish this.

Update August 5: I’m a bit worried the stole might be too short after all, so I’ll knit the entire length given in the pattern. This means as of today to have to knit another 44 Tiers instead of 24 within the next 6 days. So there’ll be 7 Tiers per day. Today I did nothing but knitting and managed to knit 15 Tiers. This won’t go on like that, so it’s going to be a tight game!

Update August 1: Re-calculated the thing, there are only 100 tiers to knit, out of which 33 are done (one third, can’t believe I’ve come this far already). Had to frog two tiers today, which were wrong due to “intelligent” thinking. Made myself colour-coded charts in order to prevent me from mistakes like that. Lots and lots of fun, this is. Update picture tomorrow, it’s night over here.

Update July 31: Cast on on Friday, but couldn’t knit for two days. By now about 18 Tiers (14 squares and 9 triangles) done - out of about 115. Attaching the border as I go, so that’s not going to contribute to the coming rush at the end.

Training: Doing a swatch-scarf in an entirely different yarn, so I’ll have understood how this thing works by the start of the event.
