June 11 - I have finished knitting this blanket. I still have ends to weave in and to wash and block it but otherwise it is done. It took about 12 skeins total; 6 of each color, and the before blocking size is approximately 52in x 50in. Perfect size for a throw.

I am loving how the blanket is turning out so far. I started it using the patterns ridge join but didn’t like how it looked so I tried another couple of different joins before settling on the one I liked.

When it is time to join at the ridge instead of using the patterns original slip the last stitch, pick up a stitch in the ridge and then pass the slipped stitch over the new stitch; I slip the last stitch knit wise, pick up a stitch on the edge/ridge, slip both the new stitch and the slipped stitch back to the left needle and then k2tog. I then turn the work and slip the first stitch and knit as the pattern says. I find the join looks nicer (at least to my taste) and isn’t as big of a ridge or bump where it is joined.

I used this tutorial for joining the two colors. It is a method of intarsia for garter stitch. It makes the joining of the two colors look so nice and seamless.
