It took me about five attempts before I worked out that I was misreading BGW’s wording. I was misreading “(k1, p1) into 2 yo’s of previous row” (an ambiguous wording at best and that apostrophe?!) as ‘(k1, p1) into each of the next two stitches which just happen to be the two yarn-overs of the previous row’ and so was increasing each 4 stitches to 6 stitches. I eventually realised that what she meant was, instead, ‘k into first yo of previous row and p into second yo’. Once I worked that out the pattern did not increase exponentially and ended up square with the same number of stitches on every row - what a eureka moment!
