I crocheted the grey woolen bumper case when I couldn’t get a bumper case in a shop right away. It was meant as a transitional thing.
I really came to like it, though, and loading cable and earphone jack fit through the stitches, too.
So I added the flap - it’s a bit in the way when I want to take a picture but it can be held to the side and it’ll keep the screen from being scratched when the mobile is in a pocket. And it looks very lady-like and hence, by a stretch, a bit steam-punky.
After a phone call the left upper corner has to be pulled off the corner to expose the proximity/light detector so the screen will light up again. But as I read this is an issue with all bumper cases and sleeves, not only the hand-made ones.
