Pattern is inspired by Star Wars X wing fighter. There are two versions of this already on the needles in VHOC for February 2016 COM. PJ’s Rookie Starfighter is in a rich blue with with glitter. Kandilyn1987 made her lovely Reach for the stars! in a variegated blue grey by Tanis Fiber Arts called Shadow.

So I’m joining in on this one. I’m using a black cotton with silver, green and pink glitter strands in it.

This is a really interesting pattern. I love the juxtaposition of a ribbed and cabled band with the openwork mesh of the top section. My daughter looked at this and really liked the fact that it would be an airy hat for warmer weather.

My one variation to the pattern was using a single needle size (3.75mm) throughout.

(And I basically knitted this in one day! I only had one row of the body of the hat and the crown shaping to do on the second day).

This one went off with Lara’s family on their Canadian adventure.
