It isn’t often I knit socks from a pattern, but this pattern is a very nice one. A simple design, elegant, and just right for these socks for my S-I-L.

He is still new to hand knit socks, and want to break him in--so pair 2 is another drab color, and simple design. Once i get him hooked, there will be stripes, and jacquard patterns, and fancy stitches. But for now,convention rules.

Love this pattern--it is just enough to elevate the sock from totally plain.

I started with a open/closed (aka Estonian) cast on, a perfect choice for 2 by 2 ribbing, and have been following that pattern --just as it is written. That is somewhat exceptional for me, but I like the directions.

Day 3--already 5 inches of the leg done (of 8 called for by the pattern)--moving along nicely.

I took a 10 day break, but now i am back to work.. flap completed, next the turn and gussets, and then it will be done!
