I knit tight and have ~600m of yarn so may yet add more repeats to extend the shoulderette to a full size shawl. Been waiting to do this pattern for a long time.
Set-up & 4reps of flower pattern in ~4h. Fast & fun. Looks dense now but i think will block to be more delicate and airy hopefully.
Started 6th repeat just before bed with >50% of yarn left. Reckon i’ll get through at least 10, maybe more. Think i might have been better off using 5mm needle but never mind. I’ll be knitting this again in a laceweight for sure!
21-09-12 Weighed at the end of 9th rep (88 rows in). Have used ~65g & have ~71g remaining (had previously used this yarn for motif swatching so actually started with less than the full 150g). Using the row count as a basic unit for area i calculate that i can possibly manage another 2 reps plus the border with my rem 52% yarn. Fingers crossed.
R1 has become progressively slower but r2-8 zip as long as fast as ever so should get to the border at least for another weigh in within a few hours.
52g left for border ~38% of my total yarn.
Nupps take FOREVER! Actually it’s the return row that is slow going as i am being very careful not to drop stitches or catch too many up with my nupps. Only managed the first 2 rows of nupps in a 3h session!
24-09-12 Worked a couple of inches of the double-yarn bind off before deciding i didn’t like the density. It looks great on the laceweight but too much for the 4ply i think. Good job too as i ran out of yarn from my 135g 12 st from the end! Cannabalised a swatch to finish it off.
In summary i did 11 repeats of the main pattern and a single-ply 2st icord bind off using ~135g 4ply yarn on 4.5mm needles but knit with my usu tighter than guage I used 38% of my yarn on the border. Blocks to 132cm wide by 67cm deep. The photo’s don’tdo it justive. I LOVE this pattern & I LOVE this yarn. Together they are GLORIOUS. I will definitely do a laceweight version at some point as well.
