A KAL Project with mba’ ajeng ;)
First time knitting with beads, oh wow, very addictive indeed my friend :))..
Only have size 8o miyuki beads in transparent dark olive, and it was a bit small for this yarn i was using. And the color though dark but the transparent of it made it look less obvious on first glimpse. Looks ok on the FO though, since i was aiming a less ‘flashy’ but still has that ‘shiny-sparkly’ effect when light touches the beads.
The picot bind off was really trying my patience since it took more than 4 freakin hours to finished ..(dear, God!)
Anyway, all in all, it’s a very fun knitting experience and not as difficult as i thought it would be. Finally learned knitting with beads, first time did a picot BO and also blocking a crescent shape shawl with lacey picot fringe (a bit tricky and took a lot more pins than i usually use!). But, oh so worth it,what a lovely result indeed and a very sweet, sweet dream to wear, awesome!
I can see myself making more of this pattern in the future ;)
My mods :
-
Since i was using a lot smaller needle size, to achieved a medium to large shawl, i have to adjust the number of stitches for stockinette part to 229sts
-
did 2 repeats on chart B & 1 repeat on chart C.
-
did everything with the same needle size (US 2.5)
Note to self:
- if possible, use a larger beads size (6o at least)
- knit row11 chart C on larger needle size as the pattern suggested (create bigger hole for a more drapey+lacey effect)
Size pre-blocked : 156 x 43cm
Post-blocked : 170 x 45cm
