I absolutely love this pattern; thank you Joji for a truly fabulous knitting experience made all the more delightful by Madelinetosh merino DK in the dazzling and warm Candlewick colourway. A perfect hat for this time of year when yellow leaves and candles abound.

I followed the crystal clear pattern to the letter. I tightened up my knitting whilst keeping the suggested needle size because I was afraid the hat would be a little slack as my tension is sometimes a little loose. The fit is perfect!

Although the name Lantern Lights given by Joji is wonderful I opted to call my hat Firebird as I was inspired by the French illustrator, Charlotte Gastaud’s, latest book, L’Oiseau de Feu. I have just written a blog post about both Lantern Lights and The Firebird. Oh, and it’s my birthday today: forty six already!
