Notes

The Santa Cruz sheep is a critically endangered breed that evolved on Santa Cruz island off the coast of California. I purchased the yarn from a ranch which is breeding these sheep in order to keep the breed alive. The yarn is quite soft, very squishy and crunchy, with a lot of body, lovely to knit with. It is hand spun, and the ranch sells limited amounts of it on Etsy.

The pattern is nice, fun to work. I stopped at 30 inches and then sewed the ends together to make a sort of cowl. It’s very warm and comfortable to wear.
