crocheted to fit my hand as closely as possible: top down dc; crocheted tubes for fingers and thumb first. then joined index, middle, ring finger. next row joined little finger. 4 rows later joined thumb. 2 rows later started decreasing; more sharply on thumb side.
when reaching wrist, frogged three attempts at making a perpendicular rib pattern for the wrist; they were just too thick and ugly. finally played around with stitches to make line patterns for 4 rows (increasing by 2 in 4th row).
finished with 3 rows sc and 1 row rsc.
at some point during the body of the glove i ended up getting too far out of sync with the spiraling rows, so i did some “short row” trickery. it came out well, but maybe i’ll do the next glove in rounds instead.
it fits perfectly. it has a couple stitches more on the outside of the hand than on the inside, the small finger and thumb start exactly at the right places. i’ve never made such a well-fitting glove before (and store-bought gloves usually don’t fit me because my fingers are short). the yarn, of course, feels lovely.
i think i’ll order some alpaca fina from elann and do another pair in a smaller gauge.
