My first attemt ever on knitting these kind of mittens. I am hoping to finish but I don’t think they will look as good as my grandmothers mittens. I just have to practise!

I am supposed to sew on the blue in the flag when I am done - but I know this will never be done so I added the blue while knitting.

Started the second mitten December 4th. It seems like my gauge is different (or I knitted the other mitten with a different needle size). Note to self: If I will knit mittens again try to knit them both at the same time - one first, and then the second.

Left the thumbs for last. Strugled with small needles, few stitches and colorshifts. So the thumbs became red just to keep me insane.
When looking at them now I think they would have been cool if I did the thumb gusset solid red from the start. But this was an attempt to knit selbu knitting - and the mittens will keep Nathalies hands warm this winter :)

I guess it will be some time before I knit selbumittens again. And if I do I will knit ADULT size and with thicker yarn and needles.

Red: 17 grams
White: 18 grams
