I will update when I get a picture on the baby! :)
This was a bit of a challenge for me, but I managed to figure out the pattern and learn a lot!
I even made a gauge swatch (2nd picture)… It turned out bigger than the pattern said to make.
So, I tried to calculate what that would translate into in the full hat, and I figured it’d be about 2 inches bigger than the pattern is supposed to be. That suited me about fine though for the size I wanted (plus, better too big than too small for a growing baby!) So hopefully the hat fits- fingers crossed!
I made the toddler size, and the pattern called for a 200m skein, but I only used 1 95m(50g) skein plus a teeny bit of a second.
I am so proud of my first “proper” crochet object! (The only thing I’ve done before this is an amigurumi)
There was one thing I was confused about- I would appreciate anyone explaining this to me:
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same st, skip next 2 dc, ch 1, V-st in next sc, ch 1, * skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, ch 1, V-st in next sc, ch 1; repeat from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 14 16, 18, 20 sc and 14 16, 18, 20 V-sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in first sc, sc in next V-st, 5 dc in next sc, sc in next V-st; repeat from * around, 2 dc in same V-st as beg ch-3; join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3: 14 16, 18, 20 shells and 14 16, 18, 20 sc.
should V-st be sc?? Since the Ch 3 is made on top of a sc?
Okay my brain is tying itself in knots trying to think about this.. Maybe someone can shed some light on it. :)
Edit: Got a message confirming the instruction was wrong:
“Yes, you’re right, it should be sc (or just, st, not V-st). You’re going into the same stitch as the one where you made the first ch-3 of the round. Sorry for the error.”
Sweet! I don’t know if the instructions have been amended but hopefully this helps someone! :)
