Another of my 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs Hat Trick hats, this one a basic beanie embellished with 3-row patterns from EZ’s Knitting Workshop.

I started with the MC and a long-tail cast-on of 112 stitches, knitted one inch (9 rounds) of 2 x 2 ribbing and then knitted one round plain. I joined the CC and knitted each pattern once, separated by 3 plain rounds, then knitted pattern 2 and pattern 1 again.

On the first round of crown decreases, I decreased only 4 stitches, to reduce the number of total stitches to 108 by k11, k2tog twice, then knit around until there were 27 stitches left. Then I k2tog, k11, k2tog, knit to end. Then I knit 1 round plain, then did my usual crown decreases.
