Notes

I purchase this as a kit. The yarn was shades of green plus one cone of yellow. The kit is more a recipe than a draft. My only complaint about this kit is that the yellow yarn and the palest of the green yarns are so close that when I wove the towels, the yellow stripes next to the lightest green stripe pretty much disappears.

I had one warp thread break when I was beaming the warp, but otherwise I didn’t have any major problems with using the boucle for warp. I did have some tension issues that developed as I was weaving. I’m not sure what caused them, but I probably just didn’t do the best of jobs when beaming the warp. I ended up weighting the section that was a bit looser and it worked just fine. The towels that I thought would be wonky because of the tension problem actually ended up being just fine after I wet finished and press them. I ran into a few issues with the selvedges (totally user error) so a couple of the towels have wonky selvedges, but even with wonky selvedges, hand woven tea towels still do the job.

I used a 9.5 yard warp--mine was probably closer to 10 yds in reality--and ended up with 10 towels. The kit is supposed to make 9. The towels are a very generous size. I had enough yarn to weave the entire warp, but I had none left over because I wove the 10th towel that I eked out of the warp until the remaining yarn was gone. It actually worked out perfectly.
