Fiesta Paisley Lace Shawl
Paisley Lace Shawl by Evelyn A. Clark
Needles & yarn
US 6 - 4.0 mm
Knit Picks Gloss Lace
4 skeins = 1760.0 yards (1609.3 meters), 200 grams

I wanted a bigger shawl and I wanted it in stocking stitch, so I made the following modifications:

I used a bigger needle than called for because Gloss is a little thicker than Zephyr.

I knitted the shawl in stocking stitch instead of garter stitch.

I knitted 16 total repeats of the Eyelet Chart to make the shawl bigger. (144 stitches per quarter)

After knitting the Eyelet Outline I had 152 stitches per quarter.

Paisley Lace Border: I knitted the 11-stitch paisleys 6 times each instead of 5 times each and added one stitch between the k2 at the beginning and the k2 at the end of the chart repeat. I.e., the chart starts with yo, k3 instead of yo, k2, and it ends with k3, yo, k1 instead of k3, yo, k1.

At the end of the Paisley Lace Border chart there were 172 stitches per quarter.

For the second Eyelet Outline section, I knitted all 8 rounds, and I had 180 stitches in each quarter.

I finished the shawl off using a knitted-on edging in the Ocean Waves pattern.

I blocked the shawl as a rectangle (5 blocks x 4 blocks) because my bed isn’t big enough to block it as a square, and at the moment, I cannot block it on the floor because of back and hip and knee issues.

On one of the borders, I knitted one too few left-facing paisleys and one too many right-facing paisleys. Sigh.
