Notes

Color and dye lot on the label are blank, so I have no idea which color this yarn is. The yarn is very dark blue with green, (lighter) blue, and red sort of heathered in. The colors are slightly muted jewel tones, and it’s really pretty.

I like the pattern stitch used in Syncopation Socks, but I made several modifications. I’m knitting the sock cuff down instead of toe up; I’m knitting it on 72 stitches; and I’m going to try a new-to-me short row heel. More on that when I get to the heel.

For the heel, I decided to try the Fish Lips Kiss Heel knitted cuff down without doing the fiddly measuring and such. I just knitting an inch plain on the cuff before starting the heel, followed the directions for doing the short rows, and that was that.

Although this particular short row technique isn’t particularly attractive, it does produce a well-fitting heel, and I only needed to knit it over half the stitches instead of 60%. And since the yarn I used is dark, you cannot tell how homely the short rows look.
