This pattern is for a basic top-down raglan pullover, but it starts with the neckband knitted in the round, then the back of the neck is raised using short rows and the yarn-over technique, which makes the short rows virtually invisible.

The original pattern has broad stripes of color, but I’m knitting this one as a solid. I mainly wanted to give the short-row neck shaping a try; otherwise, I would have just used the “custom-fit, top-down raglan” formula.

Mods: I added 3 pairs of short rows to the shoulders and several pairs down the back to lengthen the back of the sweater so that it doesn’t ride up.

I also made the body longer to accommodate the recipient’s 6’4” body.
