Jan 8 - Been waiting to make this for ages! At last, a nice, simple scarf that uses one skein of lovely Kureyon. Can’t wait to cast on…

Delightful knit. NOTE! This scarf is designed with precise German engineering by Ms. Hupke to use precisely one ball of Kureyon, so gauge is quite important.

I am a tight knitter so went up to 5.5mm needles, but that was a mistake: I should have stayed at 5mm, since I ran out of yarn about 20 rows from completing the cravat as designed (to have 10 diamonds total), so had to frog back a bit and now it is a short cravat at only 9 diamonds.

It is meant to be a dense fabric, and will loosen when blocked, so please use the recommended needle size!

Audiobook: knit while listening to Poirot solve an old suicide pact in Agatha Christie’s “Elephants Can Remember” (not recommended listening, very repetitive), and Elizabeth Ferrars’ “Danger from the Dead” on cassette tape (also not recommended, male reader takes strange pauses).
